Okay, just one opinion. A meta-opinion.

It's the law that every review of Star Wars 3 must start out discussing that enormous problem of everyone knowing the plot outline in advance.

So the reasons for its failure must be more complex than that. Maybe there's an essay in there without so much Marxist dream analysis in it.
